Spurs won their first major honor in the year 1901, the FA Cup and they became the first Southern league club to do so. In the year 1920, they gained promotion from the second division, recording a record of 70 points. After winning the FA Cup in 1921 they finished runners up the following season in the league. Arthur Rowe was installed as the new manager during the 1949 – 1950 seasons and led the side to winning the championship in 1951. Bill Nicholson led the side to the ‘double’ at the end of the 1960 – 1961 seasons and in 1963, they became the first British side to win a European trophy, the European cup winner’s cup. They won the FA Cup in 1967 and again in the years 1981 and 1982. The appointment of new manager, terry Venables was a popular one, leading Spurs to a high third place finish in the league at the end of the 1989 – 1990 season and helping the side win the 1991 FA Cup, a side including Gary Lineker and Paul Gascoigne. Spurs tasted domestic cup success eight years later as they defeated Leicester City in the league cup final of 1999. Tottenham have now been in the top flight for nearly 30 consecutive years and are a force in the premiership.

Jimmy Greaves: Greaves holds the record of scoring the most goals in a season and the most goals in aggregate. He was Tottenham’s top goal scorer during the nine seasons he was at the club. In total he scored 220 goals for Tottenham, his finest season in front of goals was the 1962 – 1963 campaign as he netted in 37 goals.
